SU-BOY (53191) This aircraft was seriously damaged during landing at IST on October 11, 2007, and has been declared an insurance write-off. The aircraft was operating a charter flight from the tourist resort of Hurghada, Egypt to Warsaw when it developed a techincal problem and diverted to Istanbul. It over shot the runway at Ataturk Airport while landing in very wet and rainy conditions and came to rest just short of the approach lights and airport security fence. The main landing gear was sheered off and the fuselage sustained extensive structural damage with visible wrinkling of the sheet metal skin in the forward cabin area. The 156 passengers and 7 crew evacuated the aircraft using emergency shutes without report of injuries. The aircraft will be dismantled at Istanbul.
