G-APEB (705) I was always impressed with the Vanguard and its performance, however from a passenger point of view, a lot of vibration in the forward cabin near the engines, always tried to get a window seat aft of the wing. Little did I know I would work with the Vanguard/Merchantman towards the end of its service with B.E.A./ British Airways. A much underrated aircraft, which gave good service but arrived too late, due to development problems with its Tyne engines. It was overtaken by the Jet era.
